Support the Chilmark Community Center
Donate. The Chilmark Community Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — and every dollar makes a difference. Your support funds scholarships so no family is turned away, keeps our facilities safe and welcoming, and ensures that programs like sailing, tennis, arts, and camp continue to grow. Whether it's $25 or $2,500, your gift goes directly toward giving kids and families the summer they deserve. This community built the Center together in 1957, and it's your generosity that keeps it thriving today.
Give in Memory of Alex Cohen
In 1988, 16-year-old Alex Cohen and his friends had a simple idea: play basketball for hours and collect donations for a good cause. Three years later, Alex was tragically killed in a car accident, and the tournament he started was renamed in his honor. For more than 35 years, the Alex Cohen Memorial Basketball Marathon has brought our community together each summer. Kids and adults filling the courts, playing the game Alex loved, and giving back in his name.
Your donation in Alex's memory does more than support the marathon, it helps sustain the entire Community Center, the hub of Chilmark community life. Gifts made in Alex's honor support our summer camp, the vendors and artisans who bring community together, and the summer programs and gatherings that make the Center a home for neighbors of all ages. It's a fitting tribute to Alex, whose idea began with basketball but was always about bringing people together.
Volunteer. The CCC runs on community. Every summer, volunteers show up to staff race day at the Chilmark Road Race, coach alongside our sailing team, help set up for the Book Festival, and pitch in wherever they're needed. Whether you have a full week or a few hours, there's a place for you. Some of our best programs exist because someone raised their hand and said "I can help with that." Be that person this summer.
