Natalie Lurie Harp Concert Tuesday, August 6th 7:30-9pm

A former Center kid and counselor, we are excited to welcome Natalie back after her stunning concert last summer! Hailed as one of “5 harpists who really nail experimental pop music” (Paste Magazine), Natalie Lurie is a classically trained harpist based in London. Most recently, she has been pursuing her Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she was the recipient of the Martin Music Scholarship Fund harp fellowship, administered by the Philharmonia Orchestra. Natalie has had a long-standing interest in expanding the harp beyond its traditional classical genre, and spent three years in Nashville, TN where she established herself as a recording harpist and singer/songwriter, performing all over Music City. In March 2016, Natalie released her debut EP No Mercy in the Night, of which The Huffington Post called the orchestration “remarkably luscious.” Songwriting Magazine wrote: “There’s a real grace and effortlessness to Lurie’s songwriting.”

Plein Air Painting AIRE MV Tuesday, August 7th (rain date August 8th) 9:30-11am

AIRE MV is a group of island artists devoted to painting ‘en plein-air’, to paint outdoors in the changing light of morning, afternoon and evening. Every summer, AIRE MV meets to identify six island locations to be painted. New spots are chosen each year in an effort to represent the breadth of the island.

Their first 2019 location has been set... and it’s the CCC! The AIRE MV artists will be all around the center painting the morning of July 2nd. And they won’t be alone. They’ve invited our youth members to join them! If possible, bring your own easels and paint with the pros.

Free members.
