Susan Pimentel Andrien
CCC’s Executive Director
She’s back! Susan returns to the Center for a second year as Executive Director, building on her great success from last summer.
MEET THE Executive Director
Susan Andrien is an experienced and highly respected professional in education, mental health, coaching, leadership, and training. Susan leads a team at Destiny Arts Center in Oakland CA and Hope Reimagined. Most importantly, she is fun, and enthusiastic, and loves working with children and creating a welcoming and nurturing environment.
Susan lives in Oakland, California, but she has deep roots to the Island. Her mother has lived on the Island for 20 years and introduced us to Susan when we were looking for a Board facilitator. Susan has been working and planning for the 2025 season since camp ended last year and we are inspired by her comprehensive approach.
She is eager to meet with the community and understand your interests and concerns, keep you informed of Center plans, and build on the long history and traditions of the Center. Join her at the monthly Community Engagement Meetings to keep informed and stay involved.
Chilmark Town Affairs Council
Dr. Carrie Fyler
Youth Program Director
A long time Chilmark resident, Dr. Carrie Fyler worked at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School for nearly a decade. She is currently teaching Biology and Environmental Sciences at the Lawrenceville School in NJ, but still considers Martha’s Vineyard home. In 2021, Dr. Fyler ran the CCC STEAM program, and is returning in 2025 for a second year as Youth Program Director.
Tad Cohn
Sailing Director
Thaddeus (Tad) Cohn has been sailing on Menemsha Pond since he was old enough to walk. A lifelong sailor with deep roots in Chilmark, Tad returns this summer to oversee the Chilmark Community Center’s beloved sailing program. His connection to CCC spans decades—as a camper, sailing student, and now as a dedicated leader on the waterfront.
During the year, Tad teaches high school English in Paterson, New Jersey. His background in education brings structure, creativity, and patience to the program, helping young sailors build skills, confidence, and a love for the water. The CCC is excited to welcome him back for another great season.
A WORD FROM SUSAN
I am thrilled to be returning for another unforgettable summer at the Chilmark Community Center! Our team has been working hard to evolve and grow while staying true to the rich history and traditions that make CCC such a special place. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to building a future that truly centers our community.
We’ve listened to your feedback and, as a result, have made meaningful improvements to enhance your experience. Our registration process has been refined for a smoother sign-up, and our counselor training program has been strengthened to better support both our staff and campers. As we bid farewell to some of our most beloved staff who have moved on, we are investing in the next generation of counselor leadership and counselor-led activities to continue offering engaging and meaningful programming.
One of the most exciting additions this year is live music every Thursday night, creating a new opportunity for families and friends to come together and celebrate summer at CCC. While not all changes have been easy, we are committed to growing together as a community, ensuring that CCC remains a place of joy, connection, and lifelong memories.
I am confident that Summer 2025 will be our most successful summer yet, and I cannot wait to share it with you all. Thank you for being part of this incredible community—I look forward to seeing you at CCC soon!
Here's to a bright and flourishing future for the Chilmark Community Center!
