Chilmark Community Center

Summer 2026 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is Priority Registration and who is eligible?

Priority Registration has been adjusted this year to align with the Town of Chilmark’s priorities.

First Priority Registration includes:

  • Children who are residents of the Town of Chilmark or attend Chilmark schools. This includes 50% discount

  • Grandchildren of Chilmark residents (no discount) To be eligible for this first priority window, families must receive in-person approval of their application.

In-person approval will take place:

  • Sunday, February 2 at the Community Potluck

  • Monday, February 3 in the morning during school 8:45-10:15 at the Library

Only families who have completed this in-person approval process will be eligible to register during the first priority window.

Do grandchildren of Chilmark residents receive the Chilmark resident discount?

No.
While grandchildren of Chilmark residents are eligible for Priority Registration, the 50% Chilmark resident discount applies only to children who:

  • Are residents of the Town of Chilmark

  • Attend school on the island

  • Have a primary residence in Chilmark

Grandchildren may register early but will be charged the full program fee.

What about children of island residents who do not live in Chilmark?

Children who are island residents but not Chilmark residents receive:

  • A 30% island resident discount

  • Access during general registration, not the first priority window unless they are enrolled in school in Chilmark.

Who is included in the second Priority Registration window?

The second Priority Registration window is for summer residents—families who will be staying in Chilmark for five (5) or more weeks during the summer.

  • This window provides early access to registration

  • No discount applies to summer residents

Why have rates increased this year?

Rates have increased modestly to help cover rising operational costs and inflation, while continuing to provide:

  • High-quality staffing

  • Safe counselor-to-camper ratios

  • Expanded programming offerings

We remain committed to keeping CCC programs accessible while sustaining their long-term quality.

What new programs are being offered this summer?

We are excited to introduce a Junior Lifeguard Program for Summer 2026.

  • It will be available as a stand-alone program or as an add-on

  • Full details will be available at the time of registration and registration for this program may be later as we work with the town of Chilmark to ensure safety and access.

What is required for Advanced Sailing?

Advanced Sailing requires prior approval to ensure safety and readiness.

  • Campers must demonstrate the skills and experience necessary for advanced-level sailing

  • Approval must be received before enrollment in Advanced Sailing

How does registration work for regular Sailing programs?

To ensure broad access during initial registration:

  • During Priority Registration, General Registration, and the first week after General Registration opens, campers may register for no more than two (2) weeks of Sailing

  • Two weeks after General Registration opens, Sailing will open fully with no restrictions and campers enrolled may transfer.

  • At that point, families may register for up to seven (7) weeks, space permitting

Is Extended Care available?

Yes. We now offer Extended Care from 3:00–5:00 pm for ages 5-14.

  • Available as a drop-in option up to one week in advance

  • $25 per day

  • Space is limited and available on a first-come basis

Are there full-day options for Playschool?

Yes. Full-day 9:00-3:00 Playschool options have been added for Summer 2026.

  • Details will be available during registration.

  • Extended care is under consideration and will depend on staffing and capacity.

What are the age and readiness requirements for Playschool?

To enroll in Playschool, children must:

  • Be at least 3.5 years old

  • Be fully potty-trained

  • Have a birthdate that is at least six (6) months prior to the first day of the week they are registering for

  • If a family registers for play school but does not meet the age requirements, it will be canceled and the family will be charged an administrative fee.

These requirements are firm and are in place to support safety and developmental readiness.

Will Adult Fitness continue this summer?

Yes! Adult Fitness classes will continue six days a week throughout the summer and all 3 instructors have confirmed they are returning.

A full schedule will be shared prior to the start of the season.
